That Hitchens is a cool cat.  You just don’t see this sort of thing any more these days. Good for Russert for moderating and for both Sullivan and Hitchens for participating in a debate like this.

I say we need more of it.

I have two repeating nightmares.

In one Im back in highschool, I cant remember my locker combination and Im not wearing any pants.

In the second Im on a stage debating Mr. Hitchens.  Ive always found the later a more disturbing dream.

Previous I had some familiarity with Andrew Sullivan’s writings but until now I had never heard him speak.  Hitchens bested him hands down which in my estimation speaking as a Christian is a sorry state of affairs.  Sullivan it would seem wants to straddle the fence with one foot on liberal progressive turf and the other on holy ground.  Trying to fuse opposing philosophies may work well for a politician running for office but Sullivan fails at trying to pull it off.

Most times atheists seem like a clanging gong that sounds one note, louder and louder, until their audience gives up trying to argue.  Hitchens, though; can actually engage in civil discourse.  Refreshing, that.

Lot of people on both Hot Air and LGF who can’t load or play all or some of these, best policy is to say never again to red lasso - this is not the first time I have been Lassoed- craptastic.

Will be checking back for alternate source as I really do want to see this.

Sullivan is a lunatic and in a perpetually hysterical state. Amazing how feverishly he blabbers to carry Obama’s water.

Sullivan made alot of mudballs growing-up as a kid, I bet.

Sullivan’s Obama kool-aid intake appears to have reached near-hydrocephalic proportions. He’s reduced his professional credentials to those of a pedantic Obama shill.

redlasso sucks.

Sullivan has one agenda: homosexual marriage, and by inclusion the postulate that homosexuals are actually normal and engage in normal sex practices.  To Sullivan, anyone disagreeing with his homosexual agenda is a bigot in one form or another.  He’s a one trick pony with brains enough to disguise his POV, for a time.

It is nice that Andrew is willing to forgive Wright, and accept the good with the bad.

Where is that forgiveness for Bush?  Can he accept the good with the bad in Bush?

I have a problem with Christopher Hitchens’ making sloppy statements or omissions. He should do a bit more research instead of relying on hearsay. Obama has rejected several times the YouTube snippets of Wright’s sermons (calling them inflamatory) and denied being present during these sermons. The Fox channel has vowed that they would investigate whether he was in attendance during these sermons and so far there has been no evidence.

Notice how, whenever Sullivan’s over-protective mothering of Obama gets in a tricky spot, Sullivan starts waving his hands and talking over the others (this happens several times).

In the first frame Russert compliments the “candlepower” facing him across the table.  He must have been thinking of Hitchens only. It’s embarrassing to listen to Sullivan’s protestations of unconditional love for his baby Obama and defensive efforts against the Hillary wolf approaching Obama’s cradle.

I used to despise Hitchens until one day I caught him on C-Span’s “In Depth” show. My regard for the man changed completely. I’ve rewatched the same show two more times, and each time I’ve picked up on something I missed before. The guy is an amazing thinker. And he doesn’t pander to anyone. He thinks if you don’t like his views or ideas, either disprove them or shut the hell up.
