Three developments this past week were promising for John McCain, or what amounts to pretty much the same thing, problematic for Barack Obama.
The state supreme court imposes same-sex marriage.
Barack Obama’s battle against Hillary Clinton is nearly over: Oregon should seal the deal. Meanwhile, John McCain’s biggest obstacle is George Bush and the weakened GOP “brand.”
The latest panic of beltway Republicans or New Yorker writers notwithstanding, the view from these columns is that the death of conservatism has been greatly exaggerated.
I think so. With his appearance on SNL and speeches lately, he appears more human, in command of the facts, and ready to be our president.
I’d say the same about Hillary, but since it’s not looking good for her these days we don’t even need to talk about it.
Barack, on the other hand, is one scary proposition. I think a few months of the stark contrast between a man devoted to our country and some youngster devoted to power will open the country’s eyes to who the choice is. McCain wins in November.
